  1.     IMPORTANT for v1.60+!

  3.     If you are upgrading from a previous version of MELEE (v1.20-1.51), you
  4. MUST reset your game. This means deleting all your old MELEE files and
  5. starting the game over again from scratch. There have been too many bugs
  6. reported and fixed which allowed players to increase their stats and skills
  7. outrageously. In the interests of game balance and fairness, a complete reset
  8. is the only answer.
  9.  
  10.     If you run a FidoNet-compatible mailer (ie., FrontDoor, D'Bridge, or
  11. Binkely to name the three most popular), you can always F'Req the latest
  12. exports from 1:128/74 using the magic name WARRIORS to get every one of them
  13. (export files are kept for 10 days before being deleted, if they are not
  14. updated). Naturally, if you are going to F'Req some visiting Warriors, it
  15. would be appreciated if you would drop some off, too, once you've registered.
  16. You can use these visiting Warriors even if you are not registered, although
  17. you will not be able to export your own.

  19.     Deleting the Player.dat file and then running Maint.exe will reset the
  20. game, once you've installed this version.
  21.  
  22.     I've found out that that difference in the speed the game runs, as far
  23. as how long messages are displayed on the screen is a function of the way
  24. DesqView works. The config line which allows you to increase the time of
  25. the delay throughout the game has been proven to offset this. See the config
  26. file for details. (On an XT, I set this to 0, on an AT 1000 might be about
  27. right.... if you run DesqView). NOTE: If you do not run DesqView, you should
  28. not need to set this at all (set at 0 or 1 or something quite low).

  30.    Read the Update.Asc file, and leave it in the directory, so your users can
  31. read it too (via the Go To the Library menu selection). It details all the
  32. significant changes in MELEE since the last release.
  33.  
  34.    Any registrations sent in during the month of October, 1991 will not be
  35. processed until the first week in October, since the author, a Captain of
  36. Infantry, is going to the field. <grin> That is, therefore, a freebie on me.
